On the default ICS android browser, the Safari mobile browser, iOS Chrome (and probably others), this does exactly what you would expect: it brings up a keyboard with both numbers and a decimal point (because of the step).

To completely disable any syncing to Google Drive, configure this policy and do not allow the Google Drive Android app to be installed on supported Chrome devices. Personally, I think Android has the right idea in using type and not the validation pattern, as iOS does. But what matters is not the method, but consistency. Client-side validation needs to work consistently across all browsers and platforms, and soon.

Apr 03, 2011 · I have recently had better luck using the ‘web clipboard’ extension for Chrome to copy/paste things into GDocs. With the web clipboard copying and pasting text is very reliable.
It’s just that some Android versions/brands do not show the decimal place on the number keyboard that pops up. E.g. On a Galaxy S3 the app itself works fine, but if the same code is opened in Chrome you get no decimal point.
