That’s fine, a lesson learnt. She then had us booked us on the night train, same day. We could not use the Eurail pass and paid the usual fare. She was told that there were no places left, and that there are usually only «15-20 Eurail seats» because on long journeys like this they «lose too much money».
Re: Is there any value in a Eurail Pass at all? 17 May 2011, 7:18 pm The ‘hop on’ convenience of a pass still works in Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, where none (virtually none) of the trains require a reservation.

Answer 31 of 132: I’m asking this question having returned from 5 weeks in Europe and learnt the hard way that a Eurail pass did not suit my family’s rail travel needs. I did some research before I left but knowing what I now know, I would not have purchased
