Sally’s was opened in 1938 when Pepe’s sister Filomena decided to get into the pizza business right down the street from Pepe’s. Salvatore Consiglio, Filomena’s son, and Frank Pepe’s nephew, jumped ship from his uncle’s pizzeria and moved over to his mother’s joint.
The case was dropped, with the court ruling in the Consiglios’ favor, but now the pizza family is suing right back. The original deal had Al Dente offering $3.1 million for Sally’s.

Mar 21, 2012 · Sally’s has very good pizza and feels more like a ma and pa type place. Better service than Pepe’s, but the sauce is a little sweet for my personal taste.
Am hoping to try pizzas at Sally’s and Frank Pepe’s in New Haven at some point in the foreseeable future (have been to Modern Apizza and liked the experience very much).
