According to this account, Leto told fans he feels as though he was «tricked» into being in the movie and was initially pitched something «very different» and «more artistic» than the final product.
It was almost as though the higher ups in charge of Suicide Squad had tricked us into thinking it was all about The Joker. If you ask Jared Leto what he thinks about that, he’d agree. Just like many critics, Jared isn’t happy with his Suicide Squad experience.
The Oscar-winning actor’s alleged thoughts on ‘Suicide Squad’ were recalled on a Jared Leto fansite on Tumblr, via Batman-News, who wrote that Leto told attendees he felt “sort of tricked into being a part of something that had been pitched to him very differently.”
Chris Nashawaty of Entertainment Weekly gave the film B− saying, «Suicide Squad kicks off with fizzy, punk-rock ferocity before turning flat and spiraling into familiar formulas,» and called Jared Leto’s «scene-stealing» Joker «wasted» and «stranded in the periphery».
It lets people know that Jared Leto didn’t deliver a crappy cameo Joker on-set, the movie cut his performance into that. It’s a positive for his personal brand and his future as an actor, even if it’s a negative for DC and WB.
